Getting Test Results

When you attend for a test you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the result.  Please do not assume that if we haven’t contacted you, the result must have been normal.  You play an important part in making sure results haven’t got lost.

For tests arranged by your hospital consultant: please call the Clinic or Hospital for the result, as we cannot action tests which have been requested by Clinicians from outside the practice.  If the consultant’s secretary informs you they will send the results to your GP, explain that you want the results from the specialist who arranged the test.

Test arranged by Redlands Primary Care: either

View your results online via SystmOne Online or NHS App, or

Phone for results  between 11AM – 3PM (when the phone lines are quieter)

Confidentiality

We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless they have given permission for the release of this information, or they are not capable of understanding the results.

There are occasions when we have a legal duty to report test results to Public Health England. These “notifiable diseases” may result in you receiving a questionnaire sent by Environmental Health to help them investigate the cause. The list does not include sexually transmitted diseases.
