We have started to receive enquiries and thought it might be helpful to signpost patients to further information.
Opting out of NHS Digital collecting your data (Type 1 Opt-out) – action required by 23rd June 2021
You can opt-out by registering a Type 1 Opt-out or a National Data Opt-out, or both. These opt-outs are different and they are explained in more detail in the links below. Your individual care will not be affected if you opt-out using either option. The link below from NHS Digital also explains why data is shared, it contains their transparency & privacy notices for doing so:
For the National Data Opt-Out you can also make or change a choice for yourself by phoning the NHS Digital Contact Centre. The phone number is 0300 303 5678 – Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).
Data sharing with NHS Digital will start on 1 July 2021.
If you wish to register a Type 1 Opt-out with your GP practice before data sharing starts with NHS Digital, this should be done by returning this form to your GP practice by 23 June 2021 to allow time for processing it. If you have previously registered a Type 1 Opt-out and you would like to withdraw this, you can also use the form to do this. You can send the form by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, post to Redlands Primary Care, Joseph Locke Way, Crediton, Devon EX17 3FD, or hand-deliver to our postbox outside of the surgery front door.
